UV and Ozone Resistant. PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene Teflon) has established itself as a tough, durable polymer, possessing a unique combination of electrical, chemical, mechanical and thermal properties unmatched by any other single substance. Maximum operating temperature 350 to 400F (176 to 204C). This material should not be heated to temperatures above 752F (400C). There are two types of PTFE rods. The rod with diameter of 4 - 9mm is made by paste extrusion of dispersion polymerized PTFE resin; the rod with diameter of 10 - 50mm is made by ram extruding method, and rods over the diameter 50mm are manufactured by molding.

Low Coefficent of Friction. Use for bearing surface on soft metals. Low moisture absorption, and excellent hydrolysis resistance. Good choice for inacessable bearing surfaces. No lubrication required. Rulon-J Rod is made from an all-polymeric, PTFE compound that offers low coefficient of friction (0.05 to 0.20 depending upon temperature and load), and a hardness of 60 on Shore D Scale with 0 percent water absorption. The material was expressly developed to run against soft materials such as Brass, Type 316 Stainless Steel, Aluminum, Zinc and plastics, and other materials which are worn rapidly by existing filled PTFE compounds. Check chemical resistance before using in a harsh acid/alkali environment.NOTE: Not recommended for use with Nitric Acid or Ammonium Hydroxide. Should not be used with Sodium or Potassium Hydroxide above room temperature.
